Could AFP, or Advertiser Funded Programming, be a way for producers and content creators to fund their creations? You'd have to've been living under a rock not to have noticed Red Bull and the way they have launched their own media empire through branding ever more extreme sports. In this post from DocumentaryTelevision.com Peter Hamilton chats to Factory Media who seem to have gone one step further and created a show pilot, sold it to a brand and a network and then hit paydirt. According to their case study, they hit an audience of 380,000,000 people. 

It certainly seems that if you understand your audience and can give them exactly what they want, if you find the right brand partner you might just be on to a winner.
